3/14/10 - CQs Update

Well, I have felt like crap the past 3 days. Been in A LOT of pain. Today is better than the last two. But I am still not a happy camper.

On Thursday I had some mini caramel rice cakes and a bitesized mini chocolate bar. I had 'In n Out' with a burger, fries and a dr. pepper. Oh, and I also had a HOT pickled pepper (peter piper picked a pack of pickled peppers). Just wanted to see what would happen if I went off the deep end and ate all the 'IC no-no's' because I really wanted to verify that IC is an accurate diagnosis for me, and if the diet really did work. I didn't want to deprive myself of all the deliciousness in the world for no good reason, because having to limit myself so greatly really sucks!

So, what is in such a meal for the day afore mentioned one with IC is not supposed to have, you may wonder? Preservatives, chocolate, spicy peppers, likely soy (in the bun surprizingly), onions, special sauce that has salad dressing oil in it, ketchup which has tomatoes and vinegar in it, soda which has bubbles and caffine in it, and french fries which are likely made in vegeatable (soy) oil.

Anyhow, I paid for it that night and the next 3 days afterwords. I have my answer and I will NOT be doing that again. Imagine having the worst case of acid reflex, but in your bladder... constantly... for 3 1/2 days. No fun whatsoever. I hear there is an over the counter medicine that is supposed to neutralize the acid in food and make it so I can eat things that most people eat. However, at this point I am not willing to even risk it. Maybe in a few months if I get brave. All I know is that I spent the last two days in bed almost entirely, and spent as much time in bed the two evenings before that because of my little endeavour.

The next day for breakfast I had some home made crepes. Which actually turned out to not look like crepes, because for some reason the batter kept sticking to the pan, so they didn't turn out round. For dinner I had cottage cheese with blueberries, slivered almonds, and a sprinkle of brown sugar.

Saturday I had a bagel with lowfat cream cheese for breakfast. For lunch I had a ciabiatta roll, and for dinner I had (again) cottage cheese with blueberries, slivered almonds, and a sprinkle of brown sugar.

Today for brunch I made waffels, which I ate with honey and had a glass of milk. I wanted to make them with blueberries too, but I ran out. For dinner, the beau and I made homemade fried chicken strips and had about 1/2 cup of sweet potatoes.

I have been feeling a little better having got back on the regular ic diet. However, the pain subsides slowly once it decides to flare up. Simply miserable.

I am going to try and get this book 'A Taste of the Good Life' which is an IC cookbook. Then maybe I can come up with some more interesting things to eat, and won't feel so deprived.

While macaroons are actually not that bad for you, I think I managed to go without eating one this entire week!!

As for exercize, other than what I mentioned on monday, I have not exercized other than the vigorous walking around I do monday through friday at work. I'm still looking into getting a hula hoop. One of these days I will.

  1. CQ- that sucks!!!! It's so unfair that your body is doing that to you. I admire your perserverence in sticking to your diet and I'm glad you tested it's effectiveness just to make sure. Hang in there.
